In city rife with a surplus of festivals, the Moontower Comedy Festival is a perfect example of a festival that has not reached over-saturated levels and is well curated. Perfectly positioned downtown Austin centered around the headliner stage at the iconic Paramount Theatre, venues were super easy to get to and there seemed to be no hassle getting in to most shows. Line ups were a great mix of industry proven veterans like Chris Hardwick, Jay Pharaoh, Colin Quinn, Sklar Brothers, Ali Wong, Patton Oswalt, Margaret Cho to YouTube famous comedians and amazing up and coming comedians. While historically presented in a stand up format, it was refreshing to see the plethora of new innovative methods comedy was presented via live podcast recordings (the Lovett or Leave it podcast had US House Representative Beto Rourke in house on their hilarious but poignant segment), and hilarious commentary presented over a ping pong tournament. The festival was a nonstop laugh fest!
