While American Authors has only been around by name for roughly 4 years, the band has been together since 2006 under the previous moniker The Blue Pages. A huge full sound fit for a bigger venue, the veteran band had such a commanding presence. Once one looks at their set up and sees that all five members are harmonizing on backup vocals, it becomes apparent how they create that complete sound. Not once during the entire set did it sound like a track or sound was missing. Showcasing their musical fluidity, the banjo player switched between banjo, mandolin, and guitar throughout the set. Chalk up this amazing Stubb’s quality show at Sidewinder as a prime example of the Austin music scene spoiling us again.
