Charli XCX returned to Emo’s again and blew the roof off on tour for her new album “Charli.” Her performance was a non-stop party and a testament to her song writing chops; she’s written music for about 12 years and collaborated/written countless hits for artists in various genres (Blondie, Selena Gomez, James Blunt, Icona Pop). During her new song “Shake It” featuring Big Freedia, Cupcakke, Brooke Candy, and Pabllo Vittar, she brought out some local drag queens to dance on stage with her and had the whole venue bouncing and living. Despite having been on tour with Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Jack Antonoff, an unexpected hiccup in the show popped out in the form of her tampon string. Taking it in stride, she laughed lightheartedly at it and stated she thought it came out in the performance last night in Houston but it didn’t, but it did tonight and requested that if anyone was writing about the show that they include it. Through the expected and unexpected, a Charli XCX show is memorable and an event not to be missed!
