In a year devoid of in person shows, what better return could there have been to live music than seeing Darkbird at the Mohawk? Summer is back in full swing with not just the band sweltering on stage, but the singing audience sweaty too. In these tough times, it’s nice to have something that is familiar and comforting like a Darkbird performance that helped us forget the pandemic year’s isolation. Kelly, lead singer, shared how they weren’t sure of the future of the band throughout this year, but then everything fell into place fairly recently. They debuted their new single Heartbeat (produced by Austin’s own Walker Lukens) to the audience’s delight with the band putting on a performance hotter than the 90-degree nighttime temperature. This –is the comeback to live music we needed.
