I first became a Feist fan around 2004 and have waited so long to catch a show that I thought my best bet might be a Broken Social Scene show at SXSW in 2019 (she did not join them for that performance). My prayers were answered finally when she opened for Sarah McLachlan this past Friday. Feist came out onto the large Moody Amphitheater stage alone, joking that she had just fired her band minutes before. She started her set with just an acoustic guitar and her soft comforting voice that quickly reminds you of how much power it has when the song crescendos and how effortlessly she changes high notes. The mini set was a testament to how talented she is as a songwriter, absolutely at home whether it be with a simple melody or with layered complex songs played with her band. Her band joined her shortly and they blew through a bunch of classics that had the audience revisiting a storied discography spanning at least two decades.
