Franz Ferdinand is one of those bands that are hard to fully describe in one sound, having been around for sixteen years with five albums and some line up changes in between. Their dedicated fan base are a testament to their virtuosity –during the first song, Alex leaned over the photo pit and accepted an art piece gift from a front row fan and took time after the song to thank them and admire the work. Extremely talented all around, they explored songs within a rock space that have sometime leaned on the funk/pop notes to guitar ska upbeats and effortlessly pontificated piano parts. Even front man Alex Kapranos’ unique voice varied with it’s distinct signature ranges from loungey and silky to staccato and broken with stops to highlight nuanced words in the song as the story spun. It’s great seeing bands that are masters at their craft, don’t miss Franz Ferdinand when you’ve the opportunity.
