The DC area band Jukebox the Ghost delivered a night of unfiltered joy and infectious energy at Stubb’s in Austin on October 4, 2024, proving yet again why they’re masters of piano-pop. The band’s vibe made the night feel like a celebration among friends. The setlist featured a mix of fan favorites and deeper cuts, but one of the standout moments was when they opened with their TikTok hit “Under My Skin.” The song’s infectious melody had the audience singing along, and it was clear the track’s viral popularity had only grown stronger since it blew up on the platform. Ben Thornewill’s piano-driven performance gave the song even more life in a live setting, as his charisma and vocal precision made the track soar. Other highlights included “Everybody’s Lonely” and “Fred Astaire,” both of which had the crowd dancing and singing along. The band also leaned into their love of Queen with their cover of “Somebody to Love” which had the crowd roaring. Normally October is their month of HalloQueen concerts but this year we only got a taste. Overall, Jukebox the Ghost’s performance at Stubb’s was a lively, feel-good experience, showcasing their talent for crafting catchy, heartfelt pop while keeping the atmosphere fun and inclusive.
