The term “Pop Princess” is thrown out a lot, but Kim Petras makes a compelling case for the oft claimed moniker as demonstrated at her explosive sold out show at Emo’s. Coming off a tour with Troye Sivan last year, she is already back on tour selling out venues as a headliner. It’s not just how catchy her hooks and songs are, but the consistency of her huge catalogue that astounds. Any pop song writer will tell you there is no formula, but Kim almost has us believing otherwise. She played through a plethora of songs, from light bubble gum pop to dark Italo disco and even brought out her cover of the Killer’s “Humans” in a rare stripped back acoustic performance. Her ability to connect with her listeners is uncanny and will ensure her fans are listening long after the show has ended.
