We’re back!!! SXSW 2022 was back to an in-person event since being on hiatus for two years due to the pandemic. NFTs brought the music during the SX interactive weekend. Fluf World came through with Dillon Francis and Ghostland Observatory. The biggest name of the weekend, Diplo was reserved for Doodles NFT holders. The NFTs didn’t stop there, they were capped off with a live and metaverse performance from Dolly Parton during the music portion.
Although Samsung had brought some huge names (Gunna, Young Thug, Kygo, and Shawn Mendes) to “The Stage” the overall scene seems more to the roots of what SXSW music is known for, super high quality lesser-known artists. Wet Leg was one of the buzziest bands this year and they did not let us down with a super fun set. Kishi Bashi had a great impromptu set at Elysium for his song film, Omoiyari party. The highest energy show goes to Sarpa Salpa, who’s lead singer spent most of the time in the crowd and some on top of a table. There were so many great performances and something for everyone! SXSW 2022 was a great comeback!
